People sometimes ask how my book sales are going. What I find most interesting is the impact book 2 has on book 1 sales. Here’s a graph showing the sales rank of The Quantum Contingent (book 1) on Amazon. The higher the graph, the better the sales. Each jump or peak represents one or more book sales. You can see that sales finally stall out completely around October of 2024.
Quantum Time (book 2) is released in May of 2025. This results in a resurgence of book 1 sales. This was very evident in a local book fair event I participated in as well. When people came to my booth, and learned about my two books, most people bought book 1. Which makes sense. They wanted to start at the beginning. Book 2 sales at the local event were limited to people who had already read book 1, or decided to buy both books at once. (This graph shows the paperback sales. A similar effect was seen on ebook and audible sales.)
If you are trying to increase the popularity of your book, one way to do it is to launch a second one!
